Civitas Sustainability Foundation is a section-8 (Not for Profit) company based out of Ahmedabad-India. At Civitas, we aim at developing solutions for 21st-century challenges through corporate philanthropy, community engagement & institutional sustainability. We have been working with governments, corporate, institutions & non-profit entities in India by creating robust research & capacity building programs, building partnerships for change and catalyzing positive transformation. We have a dedicated team with profound experience, working in CSR, Climate Change, Government & NGO Advisory, Clean Technology as well as Education, Innovation & Skill Development. Civitas primarily focuses on practices of CSR, Climate Change, Sustainability & Capacity Building to design and manage diverse programmes for strategic stakeholder & sectors. Corporate Social Responsibility: We believe that modern-age CSR approach transcends beyond charity & philanthropy and encompasses ‘shared value’ approach through sector building, collaborations, community engagement, social business and advocacy. Civitas developed an overall strategy to develop capacity for CSR and Sustainability programs. Detailed thematic areas have been identified and drawn based on the requirement of Companies Act and capacity of the organization. Mapping has been done across divisions at Civitas for undertaking various possible initiatives in CSR and Sustainability. Civitas took up implementation based CSR projects in the thematic areas of Education, Clean Energy, Environment, WASH, Rural development and Agriculture. Civitas has implemented various CSR projects for its range of clients by engaging multiple research expertise. Climate Change & Resilience: At Civitas, our aim is to address the local and regional impacts of climate change on different human ecosystems, develop action-based research tools, promote mitigation options at different scales, incite stakeholder interactions and create effective climate-communication strategies. Through our modelling based work, we also contributed to research that helped the Governments & Corporates determining their climate action goals in-line with the Paris agreement. Integrating Sustainability: Civitas looks forward to integrate principles of Sustainability and promote the green growth agenda through its initiatives with different stakeholders. Through its programs, Civitas works towards creating solutions that lessen impact on our climate, air quality, water, land, and forest through ecological processes and relevant technology and policy initiatives. We have worked with small and medium enterprises, helping them to use resources more efficiently and thereby reducing their harmful impact on the environment. Research & Capacity Building: In the light of increasing resource scarcity, promoting resource efficiency (RE) and integrating circular economy thinking has become imperative for inclusive economic development in India. Through our research, we strive to shape the debate in the field of climate change & sustainability, CSR, public policy and provide information & analytics to build the capacity of individuals/institutions from all scales & sectors.
