Today, the total consumer credit stands at $287 billion, out of which $237 billion is made available by the Banks and $50 billion by NBFCs. According to BCG Report, over 70% of this credit is being consumed by the 9% of the society (the Elite and Affluent segment). Whereas, the market segment known as the Next Billion - households with an annual income between INR 1.4 Lacs to 4.5 Lacs - forms 45% of the society but has access to only 8% of the formal credit. It’s skewed because financial institutions are comfortable lending to the elite and affluent. They continue to lend to this segment and, unfortunately, so do other emerging fintech companies. Today, the only differentiation amongst them is to provide friction free credit. Datasigns Technologies is different. Our segment is the Next Billion where credit availability itself is a big problem. Our product, Shubh Loans, is enabling lenders access unserved and underserved market segments by using real-time analytics and credit reports based on alternative data. It is available as an android app, through APIs and app white labeling. It also provides post disbursal tools that are proactive in preventing overdues and missed payments instead of after borrowers go overdue.
