In their own words

1. Background DeWS [Decentralised Water Systems] plans to address the drinking water needs of B2B customer segments initially and eventually also the B2C segment. The solutions will serve companies and MSMEs that are interested in implementing a an environmentally sustainable solution that eliminates the single-use and other plastic application and also provides contactless dispensing option. DeWS customers consist of various companies of India that are either dependent on packaged drinking water or have set up their captive water treatment system to meet the drinking water needs of employees and visitors. Some businesses also install various Point of Use (PoU) equipment within their facility to provide safe and clean drinking water. All these segments are impacting the environment by generating substantial single-use plastic waste. Some of the key issues faced by these customer segments' concerns the provisioning of drinking water, specifically the major concerns are listed below. a. Plastic waste generation, due to extensive dependency on the single-use plastic bottles. b. Water quality concerns, most of the small and unorganized players who supply drinking water to the customers are unable to provide reliable quality water, besides there exists a risk of microplastics leaching into the drinking water. c. Administrative overheads, as manpower is required to manage water distribution at the customer premises. Also, the service delays forcing the customer to stock the water bubbles on their premises, which is an extra cost. d. Water service delays, as the local players are unable to provide reliable service for the timely delivery of drinking water. e. Carbon footprint, the carbon particles released by the water delivery vehicles that supply the drinking water to the customers is also causing environmental pollution. f. Water dispenser investment, the customers need to invest the cost in purchasing and installing the water purifiers is also an extra burden. g. Irregular maintenance, leading to drinking water quality concerns. h. Water wastage, in case PoUs are used to treat drinking water, these equipment report high water wastage i.e. over 70% of raw water. i. COVID 19 Protection, with the advent of COVID 19 pandemic, the new normal for the customers includes a contactless or a disinfected environment in which people can access and consume potable drinking water. 2. Proposed Solution DeWS proposes to implement two (2) specific solutions to address the various challenges faced by the customer segments; these solutions include the following sections. i. Purification Circulation and Dispensation (Hub n Spoke): Under 'Hub n Spoke' solution, DeWS will install a fully automated, compact and modular water treatment unit called PARE i.e. Process Automation and Remediation Equipment in the customer [Corporate and Institutions] premises, which is connected to various dispensation points identified via a piped network. ii. Integrated Purification and Distribution (Standalone n Integrated): For the Standalone n Integrated solution, DeWS installs a purification kiosk that provides continuous access to quality drinking water to the employees, customers and visitors of a given customer. 'Standalone n Integrated' are primarily designed to meet the safe and clean drinking water requirements of SMEs and Restaurants.
