At present in our country, buildings are constructed using conventional RCC or Masonry elements. Cement concrete is major component of all these constructions. Cement Concrete is not environment friendly starting from its production till disposal at end of its life. These structures require considerable construction time on site being cast in situ. Also conventional structures carry considerable self weight due to high density materials & heavy section sizes used which makes them more susceptible in earthquake prone areas. RCC structures consume considerable quantity of water onsite due to cast in situ construction practices. To improve existing construction practices& methodology in our country, we are going to develop Architectural& Structural concepts / proposals for 1) Prefabricated light weight structures constructed using combination of Light guage structural Steel frame sections (LGSF), PUF panels, Fibre cement boards and new edge materials. 2) Modular structures manufactured using Tubular steel sections, thin gauges metal sheets and new edge materials. Improvement 1) Higher Resistance - These structures will be5 times lighter than the conventional RCC structures due to light guage steel sections (LGSF)& PUF panel thin walls. In earthquake prone areas this will be USP as 80% lesser seismic forces will be generated due to lesser self weight. Also greater corrosion resistant can be achieved through advanced painting & coating technology. 2) More Carpet Area - These structures will be having 10-15% more carpet area as compared to conventional RCC structures due to compact structural columns sizes & thin LGSF / PUF panel walls (60mm to 115mm thickness walls) 3) Eco Friendly - This is dry technology i.e. 70% water will be saved during construction as water will be required only for foundation works. 4) Pollution free construction- Internal and external plaster is not required; hence there will be considerable reductio
