In their own words

Digital For NonProfits is an entity built to empower nonprofits with the help of technology grants and digital marketing. We believe that we can make a difference and create lasting value for nonprofits with our process of acquiring & implementing technology grants combined with our digital marketing expertise. We aim to improve digital maturity for nonprofits and make them more self-reliant. What India needs: While a variety of metrics in India ar growing (% smartphones, penetration of digital, per capita income, growth in ad expenditure, ease of doing business), one key indicator which hasn't seen much improvement over the years is HDI (human development index) . It’s the measure of the quality of life in any country. India ranks 129 / 187, and hasn’t moved much for the past 4 years. Two agencies who can impact this metric are the government & nonprofits. Among these two entities, nonprofit organizations have a more direct agenda to improve the overall human condition. They also get funding from both private and public sources for the same. Ample giving budgets exist : Keeping the government budgets aside, there's roughly ~$10B + in private giving budgets coming from foreign sources, individual philanthropy, retail donations and from the 2% of profit CSR rule in India. Out of this money the CSR budget needs to be mandatorily spent every year, however a significant % of this goes unspent annually and a lot of what is spent doesn't create desired or timely impact. While there are Who are we? What are we trying to do? multiple challenges at every level, one uber solution which could address this is digitization. What nonprofits need: We did a quantitative study and selected about 150 nonprofit organizations all of whom had FCRA certification and are relatively well-established. We checked for multiple parameters like site load speed, tracking tools, payment infrastructure, presence on social platforms for content like FB, Instagram, YouTube among others. What we found was that barring a few nonprofits which would account for less than 10% of the total sample set, the average across important metrics like site speed, payment infrastructure, content assets and usage of digital grants was low. Aggregate a solution that combines technology grants, digital marketing and implementation at source : We intend to use existing technology grants & acquire new ones to implement with a select set of legitimate, digitally adept nonprofits. This can create more transparency and impact for funds deployed. It can also help improve outreach and get additional fundraising. We have the ingredients in place i.e. technology grants, giving budgets and willingness from nonprofits to embrace digital. How are we going to do this? What are technology grants: Large tech companies eg: Google, Microsoft, Facebook and the like offer some of their products / stacks for free / at a subsidized cost. One such example is google for nonprofits , which has delivered some great results for participants. However nonprofits have low awareness and lack understanding of these offerings. These require expertise to acquire, execute and measure. The value unlock is extensive but also one that requires guidance & capability building. The formula has and continues to work: Here are a few case studies from the Google for nonprofits suite and some additional ones from the Google ad grants product in India. All of them show how nonprofits benefited from Google’s technology grants. We recently published this success story for a nonprofit organization we’ve been working with for a while. This is a proof of concept of how digital for nonprofits can create lasting value & impact for all involved i.e. for nonprofits, tech companies giving grants and for funders. Case Study : How a 60 year old yoga ashram came online in 6 weeks About the Founder: Digital For Non Profit was started by Abhinav Chetan. “I spent 12 years at google and worked across a variety of teams including operations, automation and product solutions. I led commercialization across search, web analytics & mobile UI/UX efforts for India as a product specialist. And in my last role I worked as a product marketing manager enabling the google ads & analytics suite for large advertisers & agencies in India. I’ve earned digital marketing degrees from NIIT, MIT & Wharton, consulted with partners from different verticals across the globe & educated agencies, startups and premier universities on digital marketing in India. Outside of work I'm a trained yoga instructor, an avid reader and am passionate about digitizing nonprofits in India. It was a 20% role I volunteered for, in that period I worked with multiple nonprofits and realized that adopting & optimiz
