In their own words

Birth of the Concept Originally my profession has been to source beautiful and unique land parcels near forests, hill sides, hilltops, water bodies along the countryside for construction of farm houses for HNI's or the rich class individuals. For this, I have been travelling for over 20 years to various parts of Pune district and even Maharashtra State. One thing I noticed that most of these beautiful places were ancestral properties of common or middle class or poor farmers who obviously had no knowledge, experience or vision to put such extra ordinary locations to commercial use, other than farming or grazing cattle. Other major hurdles were, seeking permissions from various government authorities or arranging funds for construction of infrastructure for commercial exploitation of these locations. Stringent Rules and Policies added roadblocks to ambitions (if any) of these land owners. But, the thought remained in my mind that the original owners of the properties could make a living by renting these locations with room like structures on them the city people to spend weekends in the lap of nature with fresh air and distress. Few years back, Agro-Tourism gained popularity on the same lines but the concept only benefited very few who had large farm land and ready infrastructure. Most farmers in India have small land parcels and no money to create the basic facilities required. In 2016, the Government of India introduced the Caravan Policy to promote Tourism. This again required expensive vehicles - Caravans and well-equipped and safe Caravan Parks in scenic locations along the travel route. In past few years hardly under one lakh private caravans have been registered in India. With hardly a few caravans and/or caravan park facilities, four States, known for amazing natural beauty and/or ancient monument sites, implemented Caravan Tourism but the concept failed to gain momentum or popularity. After Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Uttaranchal, now Maharashtra has allotted a huge budget for tourism and is aggressively promoting Caravan Tourism, mostly along its coastal belt only. My observation is that owners of the Caravans would want to travel different routes each time to enjoy the feel of nature in its different forms. Very few would rent out their personal caravans to others, especially unknown people. Commercial renting of Caravans is expensive or unaffordable for many beyond one experience trip. It is also risky, owing to the road conditions or driving experience of such transformed vehicles. Designated drivers will not work as people would want privacy on such trips. So, the other possible option is to allow people to simply travel by their own bicycles, motor cycles or cars to countryside locations and offer them basic stay facility in beautiful locations to experience and enjoy natural beauty without creating too much of infrastructure and disturb the balance maintained by the natural eco-system. With this thought in mind, I have been trying to identify a concept/product that is cheap and simple to introduce and also affordable to own or rent. I came across Vardos’ - Gypsy Caravans. These tiny home like structures with basic infrastructure and amenities can be placed in any location without a problem. They can be privately owned for personal use or rented out without any hassle, as they are cheaper compared to fancy caravans or typical hotel rooms and are very low on maintenance. Desired ambience and greenery can be created in and around them to add/upgrade natural living conditions. Weekend getaways can be made easy and affordable for all class of people. VARDO Caravans / Recreational Vehicles / Campers / Wagons, are generic terms used for Motor Vehicles / Towing Trailers equipped with some amenities of a home. Vardo - Wag-on, a living Wagon, Van and Caravan, highly decorated, intricately carved, brightly / aptly painted and even gilded, was at one time, seen as a highly cultural point of both aesthetic design and a masterpiece of woodcrafters art. Vardo - A Gypsy Caravan, Wagon or Room on Wheels was first created as a mobile home and then to transport goods. Gypsy Caravan, a large wagon with wheels and an arched canvas top, originated or started being used at the beginning of the 18th century, as a shed on wheels, a little more than a simple tent, with basic infrastructure meant for recreational purpose, cooking or sleeping. This wagon was pulled by a horse, camel or bull. MVARDO "M" is the first alphabet of our family name "Mathurawala" and Vardo - A traditional horse drawn living Caravan used by British Romanic Hal Travelers as their home, commonly thought of as a highly decorated, intricately carved, brightly painted, and even gilded. Hence the Title "MVardo" Types of Gypsy Caravans - VARDOS The first “Recreational Caravan” was built around 1880. Different types
