East West Eco-Kitchen is a start-up that runs a cloud kitchen (central kitchen) in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It serves Calcutta Cuisine (a cuisine that developed in the city of Calcutta during colonial period) and was adapted and consumed by the city dwellers even after the independence. The food is prepared from organic and GI (geo indication) tagged ingredients and packed for delivery in compostable containers. Since the consumers of this cuisine is scattered around the city, satellite kitchens or kitchen-less restaurants are required where semi-finished food would be supplied fresh on day-to-day basis in the pockets where the consumers live. Funding is required for this phase of expansion. To scale-up, the same model will be replicated in large metros and trier II & III cities with substantial population from Bengal/Eastern India.The start-up solves 3 critical problems: 1. Availability of healthy Calcutta Cuisine at doorstep which is not available at the moment 2. Availability of hygienic and chemical fertiliser and pesticide free food 3. Checking plastic pollution by using compostable containers The food is such that it can also be dispensed through vending machines at crowded places like railway stations, airports etc. This food is popular among the entire population of eastern India that majorly constitute the state of West Bengal, Bihar, Orrisa, Jharkhand and Assam. A large chunk of this population has migrated to other parts of India for better opportunities. This migrant population is roughly 10 million and they crave for this food that is not available in those states.
