Linen is in vogue in India and can be explained by the fact that India today consumes over 22,000 tons of linen yarn/annum. The increase in consumption of linen in India is backed by huge investments in linen spinning by corporate like Grasim, Raymond, Sintex , Siyaram , and Bombay Rayon. With the increase in demand for Linen, demand for its by-products like short fiber obtained from scotching & heckling are finding its uses in various industries like textiles (apparel and home), non-woven, geo-textiles and automobile. The objective of this project is to recycle waste fiber obtained from processing long fiber, and make it suitable for cotton spinning system, for apparel and home textiles.
