Ecomine is a deep-tech startup incorporated in November 2025, headquartered in Mangalore, Karnataka, building an AI/ML-based prediction platform for mineral exploration. Founded by a Mining Engineering alumnus of NITK Surathkal with prior industry experience at Vedanta Ltd., Ecomine addresses a critical inefficiency in the exploration lifecycle, the fragmentation of geophysical, geochemical, and geological datasets that leads to poor drill targeting and high exploration costs. The company's flagship platform, Spectropy, fuses hyperspectral satellite imagery, hyperspectral drill-core analysis, and geophysical data including magnetic, gravity, radiometric, and electromagnetic surveys through a deep-learning architecture comprising spectral unmixing, geophysical inversion, and Bayesian Neural Networks trained specifically on Indian terrain signatures. At its core, Spectropy operates as a closed-loop active learning system: surface and subsurface data inputs feed an AI model that recommends optimised drill targets, post-drill hyperspectral core scans are fed back into the model, and prediction accuracy improves iteratively with every exploration cycle. This surface-to-drill-bit intelligence layer significantly reduces the capital wasted on uninformed drilling, compressing the time and cost of viable mineral discovery.
