We started Ekank with the aim of building a suite of products that would make people fall in love with Indian history once again; through storytelling, inclusiveness and giving a voice to all whose stories and impacts would otherwise get lost in time. Our focus is to make historical content (written, audio, video and oral) accessible to the masses and add a layer of engagement through a visual retelling of large and small events alike. In this digital era, while the information available to people is increasing at an exponential rate, the accessibility to this content is decreasing. History as a field is dying since people are getting used to one-off productions by large media houses and losing touch with the nuances of what makes history great. Users consider history to be either extremely academic and boring or to be the subject matter of interesting films (fiction). We want to change this perception and let people understand the importance of the past while we focus on shaping the future of the country.
