Although India’s healthcare industry is improving and reaching top-tier standards, the country’s emergency medical response system is sadly falling behind. The major problem the startup Ambutap is planning to solve is the untimely service provided by Ambulances throughout the nation. The Emergency Medical Services in India is struggling with majorly tow problems: first to get to the patient on time and second, offering key services like triaging, vital sharing, and having an ambulance that is equipped to execute life-saving procedures like ALS, BLS, and CPR within the golden hour. The major reasons for a failing EMS in the country is due to the Non-Availability of appropriate and safe transport for the injured patient in the form of road ambulances, air ambulances etc. Prompt and an effective transportation system for patients from the site of emergency to the hospital’s emergency department seems simple but is a very complex process. The true concept of an Ambulance has been dismissed in India as the existing ambulances act as mere transport vehicles lacking the requirements of an overall ambulance design w.r.t patient first aid, comfort and ergonomics. The ambulances in India are inappropriately equipped and the in-adequate care during transportation due to lack of trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s in the country has even cost lives at the most. The Controller and Auditor General (CAG) Report 2020 has found that the 108 Ambulance service of India has failed to reach 50% patients within time. And the World Health Organization has estimated in 2016 that ischemic heart disease and stroke which require prompt emergency services are the leading cause of death due to impediment services of ambulance. Poor methods of emergency ambulance transportation, lack of infrastructure, lack of public awareness about recognizing emergencies and untrained health care professionals is the problem that our nation faces.
