Background: India has an immense need for constant supply of fuel/power sources at both residential and commercial buildings. With power cuts in the country, populace have resorted to generators as back-up power. However, issues are experienced in mobilizing fuel from a fuel station to the generator. Similarly, to just refuel, heavy-duty trucks such as earth-moving equipments and excavators are hard pressed to travel to a fuel station due to their heavy nature. Therefore, they are facing difficulties in accessing fuel for their needs. How is the problem solved currently ? Currently, the diesel is being transported to destinations through barrels and cans, mainly through cars, bikes, and autorickshaws. With diesel being a highly flammable liquid, poses many safety hazards during transportation, it is less convenient, requires manpower, and is time-intensive. Also issues of fuel pilferage during handling and adulteration are present. Many illegal bowser operators are delivering diesel to the destinations. Moreover, barrels are calibrated to standard capacity and due to handling, the barrel shape is deformed. Therefore, difficult to ascertain the exact quantity being dispensed into the equipment. Illegal bowser operators lack an explosive license from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO). The safety of the populace is compromised with untested or unauthorized heavy fuel tanks. Industry - what changed ? The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has proposed door-to-door delivery of diesel in accordance with stipulations laid down by PESO, encouraging “Start-ups” to provide innovative solutions. The change in regulation and issues with the current set-up has called for innovative approach to solve the problem plaguing this industry. Solution – FuelEx FuelEx is an innovative “start-up” aiming to revolutionize refuelling needs of industries, commercial establishments/buildings, and residences through an on-demand diesel delivery service. The company is to function with licensed and IoT-enabled mobile dispensers whereby users order diesel on a web-based platform and mobile application. Business Model - FuelEx purchases diesel from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and fuel retailers. The source is to be chosen in real-time depending on customer location, bowser location, and availability of fuel from the source. FuelEx plans to purchase fuel from OMCs/ fuel retailers at Rs.2/ Rs. 1 discount. FuelEx will then deliver diesel at the customer’s place at the Market Selling Price for a delivery fee. Innovative FuelEx Using Geo-Fencing, FuelEx ensures fuel is dispensed only in designated business premises or into authorized assets. Also, reduction in fuel wastage through reduced travel to the fuel stations. FuelEx has developed advanced fuel management and analytics dashboard for users to get detailed reports on their purchases. With GPS, bowsers are monitored in real-time for accuracy and transparency. For fuel efficiency and CO2 emission reduction, our trucks follow the most efficient route/ delivery stops for delivering diesel. Through various check systems & technologies, FuelEx addresses issues of safety, fuel theft, accuracy, and adulteration in this industry. Bowsers with advanced built-in technology ensure high transparency, safety, and security. With bowsers being PESO approved, all safety requirements are met. Bowsers with in-built “sensitive sensor” nozzle dispense accurate quantity of diesel with electronic billing system. FuelEx prices are the same as the Retail Selling Price. All the fuels are sourced directly from OMCs or duly-verified fuel resellers to ensure quality fuel. With FuelEx mobile refuelling services, businesses can save time and money, thus revolutionizing the way businesses refuel. Businesses can adopt a just-in-time refuelling model wherein they order diesel for their daily needs rather than stocking up for days. This enables preservation of working capital, eliminates risks of handling and storing fuel supplies on-site, assuring swift delivery of diesel, elimination of machinery and generator downtimes, and increase in efficiency. With innovation at its core, FuelEx plans to expand into Predictive Diesel Delivery with IoT-enabled fuel tank sensors, fuel assurance programs, On-site IoT-enabled fuel storage tanks, electric bowsers, delivery of diesel exhaust fluid, delivery of lubricants and oil, and alternative fuels such as Biodiesel and CNG. Target Market: Commercial Buildings: Hotels, IT Parks, Theatres, Shopping Malls, Educational institutions, & other commercial establishments. Industries (Generator/Machinery/Stationary Equipment), Factories, and Mines. Roadmap: FuelEx is planning expansion in 3 stages. First, the Company will start operations in Chennai, a Tier- 1 city & industrial hub. Consequently, FuelEx will move to other Tier-1 cities in South India. Upon successful expansion, the Company will move to Tier 2 cities.
