Women Safety and Rape are critical and pressing issues that stand to cause a roadblock to true development of the Indian Society. Most Indian women feel threatened and unsafe in occupying public spaces at odd hours, while commuting to work or travelling alone. There is a strong need of improving the social and legal strength of women and to make them confident enough to claim their rights, and take necessary & timely action. Crimes against women in India are on a unprecedented rise, recording almost a 35% jump in the number of registered rape cases in 2013, the year after the Nirbhaya incident.The entire nation over the past few months has been engaged in a national discussion stemming from accusations about sexual harassment and sexual assault against women. based on reports, these acts involved egregious disregard of the human rights and dignity of women. The national outcry spoke to the fact that sexual abuse—in all forms—is an affront to all Indians, not just the victims. GEMTech directs its efforts to the same need, by creating a direct link between the Indian Police and its citizens and at the same time empowering women to take action in times of emergency. In this way, our solution sets a new precedent as a completely stand-alone Smart Wearable solution with no dependency on any phones and notifying the Police immediately and sharing the exact live coordinates of the victim.
