JewelStart Incubation Concept: 1. Introduction The Gem & Jewellery (G&J) industry is one of India’s most prominent sectors, contributing significantly to exports, employment generation, and cultural heritage. However, despite its scale and global reputation, the industry continues to face challenges related to innovation, technology adoption, skill development, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. A dedicated Business Incubation Center (BIC) for the Gem & Jewellery industry can serve as a catalyst to nurture start-ups, empower artisans, support MSMEs, and create a pipeline of innovative enterprises. This document outlines the framework for establishing and operating such an incubation center. Mission - To make India the “Jeweler to the World.” 2. Objectives of the Incubation Center • Foster innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship in the jewellery sector. • Provide infrastructure, mentorship, and access to cutting-edge technologies. • Create a platform for start-ups, designers, and artisans to commercialize new ideas. • Facilitate collaboration between industry, academia, investors, and government bodies. • Strengthen the competitiveness of India’s G&J sector in global markets. 3. Scope and Target Beneficiaries The incubation center will serve as a hub for: • Start-ups working on jewellery design, manufacturing, retail-tech, or sustainability solutions. • MSMEs seeking support in scaling up operations or adopting new technologies. • Artisans & Designers looking for market access, branding, and training. • Technology providers offering CAD/CAM, 3D printing, AI, blockchain, and traceability solutions. • Investors and VCs interested in curated G&J start-ups.
