We work at the intersection of nature and livelihoods, to empower grassroots organisations to transcend donor dependence and maximise impact for biodiversity and people. We design solutions for the needs of local grassroots organisations, Indigenous Peoples, and Local Communities to accelerate on-ground action. We do this by building their organisation, designing self-sustaining landscape restoration and livelihood programs, and cultivating nature based local businesses, all the while adopting a no harm approach to Nature. Through our ongoing work on wetland restoration, conservation, responsible tourism in the high Himalayas, restoring grassland ecosystems, and safeguarding rainforests in indigenous territories of Western and Eastern Himalayas, Western Ghats, Deccan Peninsula, Terai region, GroundUp is already demonstrating the potential for grassroots conservation efforts, where conservation, livelihood and technology thrive together and support local communities. GroundUp recently was recognised as ‘Top Innovator’ in the field of environment conservation and grassroots development by World Economic Forum.
