In their own words

We are engaged in creating solutions for mechanical and electrical technology-driven challenges in the field of mobility and defence application. The issue that we are resolving is the absence and foreign-dependency on heavy-duty land and marine powerplants i.e. diesel engine for application in military and civil vehicles. Similarly, in the field of airborne hardware like UAV, Indian market is replete with battery-based quadcopters having limited endurance and payload capacity (and huge dependency on foreign spares). In the field of aeronautical propulsion also, India is heavily dependent on foreign import, especially due to metallurgical challenges like directional solidification required for turbine blade manufacturing as well as single crystal materials for high temperature applications. Therefore, gas-turbines are mostly imported and its homegrown demand is increasing due to government’s emphasis on indigenization. Beyond the technical independence, cost effectiveness is an issue, as we are paying license fee for producing military hardware to foreign countries and the cost of production in higher therefore. On the other hand, an indigenously developed product (which is our focus) will definitely be cost-effective and eliminates foreign dependency. Moreover, when it comes to diplomacy and non-technical trade barriers/embargoes like dual-use technologies, foreign countries always use it for arm-twisting domestic decision-making independence. Issue of sanctions and restriction of technology-access had anachronistic effect on the pace of India’s technological development. The product that we are currently focussing includes development of diesel and gasoline engine for vehicular, marine and defence application, development of UAVs for tactical application in defence and civilian application for law and order surveillance and anti-poaching operations. Subsequently, we intend to explore the possibility of producing aircraft propulsion systems with least foreign dependency.
