This startup will provide novel nano-tech-based herbal products to cure chronic bone diseases such as Osteoporosis and fast fracture healing. Osteoporosis is a chronic condition that characterized by a decrease in bone mass density and results in the weakening of bones, making them fragile and more prone to fractures. Fractures can lead to reduced quality of life, disability and increased mortality. Risk factors for osteoporosis include aging, hormonal changes, unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle, certain medications side-effects etc. Post-menopausal women are at high risk of Osteoporosis. As per the World Health Organization worldwide, osteoporosis affects approximately 2/3rd of postmenopausal women. By 2050, the worldwide incidence of hip fracture will be increased by 240% in women and 310% in men, compared to rates in 1990. Osteoporosis is a condition that is both preventable and treatable if diagnosed in time. If there is prior knowledge about the disease, one can prevent it or reduce the severity of the disease. However, lack of awareness about prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, makes the situation worse. Due to the chronic nature of the disease, high cost & severe side effects associated with conventional treatment, there is a need for effective herbal formulation. The bioactive extract of the osteoprotective herb, Cissus quadrangularis was properly characterised and standardised to develop its nano-formulas for food systems. While blending with natural and biodegradable excipients and processing with improved methodology, the bioavailability and efficacy of the developed formula were enhanced significantly. The validated food-grade nano-formula was blended with dairy products to develop a functional milk beverage. This type of functional dairy product is not available globally. This is an innovative approach to fight against the destructive disease; osteoporosis and other bone issues that put the population at the risk of fractures and mortality.
