In their own words
"Organic agriculture sustains the health of soil, ecosystem and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and protect fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved". Contrary to popular belief, organic farming is a not a new fad, countless generations have thrived on conventionally grown spices. Organic farming or the organic crop production is not a novel concept to the farmers of the country. Indian farmers were all organic farmers before the advent of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, mechanization, etc. and most of them are still are – practicing organic farming on sustenance basis. The alarming rate of deterioration of the soil is a result of massive use of chemicals to boost and speed up the cultivation process. Organic farming aims at sustaining and increasing the productivity by improving the soil health and over-all improvement of agro- ecosystem. Different studies have suggested that the productivity of crops under organic farming either maintained or improved over the years. For successful organic farming the resources available have been effectively used and a holistic approach has been adopted. Green manuring, mulching, crop rotation, use of biological pesticides and most importantly, indigenous knowledge has been used for farming. Ganga river plains with extensive spread of alluvial soil in the northern part of the country is highly fertile in the world for organic food production. World class Indian organic spices are grown in southern part of the country. North East organic farming "The Northeastern region is an unexpected paradise for agribusiness. Sooner, it is harvested, better it will be for dawn of prosperity and peace in the region." - Asian Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies, 2014 There is lot of scope for organic agriculture in the hills especially in the northeastern region of India. Abundant rainfall, rich soil, high altitude, hilly terrain, fresh air and clean water - these natural conditions combined with traditional farming methods make the region ideal for organic farming. The use of inorganic fertilizers and chemicals is meager in the region. Extent of chemical consumption in farming is far less than the national average. 18 lakh ha of land in northeastern region can be classified as “Organic by Default”. The farmers of the region, in general and hill farmers, in particular, are having apathy towards use of agro-chemicals. Time tested indigenous farming systems and use of indigenous technical knowledge in agriculture has saved the land from harmful effects of chemicals on the soil. An added advantage is that all the households are maintaining livestocks (pig, poultry, cattle, goats, etc.) producing sufficient quantity of on-farm manures, which is efficiently used for organic agriculture. The North Eastern Region is home to some niche crops like Assam lemon, Joha rice, Medicinal rice and Passion fruits. The region is also known for good quality ginger, turmeric, large cardamom, tea, orange, pine apple etc. We believe there are undiscovered treasures in the nature which can be only found through traditional sustainable farm practices. In non-organic farming techniques, the main concern is timely yield with maximum quantity, and all kinds of chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used to meet that end. There is no focus given to the quality of the soil. In the case of organic farming, such scenarios are avoided. A detailed study regarding all aspects of the cultivation process is done right at the beginning. Over the past few years, the awareness about health of people, society as well as the environment has gone up evidently. The focus from comfort food has shifted to healthy food. People have started noticing the harmful effects of chemical laden adulterated, synthetic food and hence, the preference towards healthy and naturally grown food is a natural consequence. Most of the parents are in the fear of feeding food to their infants and children as fruits, vegetables, dairy products produced through conventional farming focusing on increasing the yield are not safe. Organic food thus becomes a natural choice promoting good health of people as well as our environment. It promotes better environmental practices. Our organic food has high nutritive values as we rely over tradition and innovation during organic farming. Enjoy our healthy and flavorful products, also be reminded of the importance of good farming methods. When you buy our products, we create the process of sustainable farming and healthy ecosystem.
