We have designed and developed a semi-continuous large-scale (feed capacity of 10 tons/day) pyrolysis reactor SS304 for biochar production from Prosopis juliflora wood. The higher carbon content (70-80 %) and the attractive physiochemical properties such as porous structure and high specific surface area (102 m2/g) make biochar an appropriate candidate for numerous applications such as water treatment, air purification and soil amendment. Moreover, during the pyrolysis process, we have bio-oil (20.87 MJ/kg) and syngas (9.61 MJ/Nm3) with a higher heating value which can be utilized for heating applications.
