I embarked on this entrepreneurial journey, driven by my passion for gelato, inspired by my experiences in Italy. Gelato, with its rich flavors and reduced air and fat content compared to traditional ice cream, fascinated me due to its health benefits and exceptional taste. My professional background as a food technologist and microbiologist, coupled with my extensive research and development experience, including affiliations with esteemed institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and the Cancer Research Institute, empowered me to recognize the potential of gelato as an ideal product for my entrepreneurial endeavor. Over the past two years, I have focused on creating a shelf-stable gelato product positioned as a superfood or functional food, with unique attributes. This gelato is sugar-free, relying on the natural sweetness of honey. It is low in fat, contains probiotic bacteria, and is rich in antioxidants, making it a health-conscious choice. What sets my gelato venture apart is the innovative concept of infusing each flavor with an unmistakable Indian twist. I carefully curate every gelato flavor using indigenous Indian spices, condiments, and fruits. For instance, I've crafted a distinctive chocolate gelato, combining Red Mathania chili from Jodhpur, mango from Ratnagiri, and cardamom from Kerala. India offers a wealth of exceptional ingredients, such as nutmeg from Kottayam, Arabica coffee from Coorg, and the fragrant Gondharaj lemon from Northeast India, which I blend to create refreshing gelato flavors that celebrate India's culinary diversity. I am currently seeking funding support to launch these curated superfood gelato flavors, propel my business, and bring these tantalizing products to market readiness. My strategic plan involves widespread distribution throughout Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru, primarily through renowned online platforms like Swiggy Insta Mart and Blink It. Additionally, I aim to establish valuable partnerships with esteemed organizations such as Godrej Nature's Basket and Reliance Jio Mart.
