AI Driven Case Intake and Case Processing Background: Drug manufacturing is backed by years of R&D and clinical research. Failure of drug may result in manufacturers losing millions of dollars. This also impacts manufacturer’s reputation. Post-marketing data gathering (popularly known as adverse events or AE) are hence important. Adverse event reporting helps to identify rare adverse effects, review risks or signals and hence improvise the safety profiles of the drugs/products or take necessary corrective actions. The domain is known as Pharmacovigilance. Pharmacovigilance (PV) is defined as the science and activities relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problem. The adoption of software technologies in Pharmacovigilance dates back to decades. These systems are called as safety systems. These systems are bulky, lack automation capabilities and require huge training costs. The adverse event volume is increasing exponentially and is at all time high. The Pharmacovigilance market is expected to reach 8.9 billion dollars by year 2025. Hence, the need of hour is a lightweight and automated solution. Our Solution: The adverse drug reactions (ADRs) or Adverse Events (AEs) are reported using ICSRs (Individual Case Safety Report). We offer automation of ICSR end-to-end processing. The target clients for the solution are pharmaceutical companies across the globe, regulatory authorities and CRO (Clinical Research Organizations). Our solution shall enable pharmaceutical companies to effectively gather data at the time of reporting, reduce turn-around times and avoid missing reporting deadlines. The reporting deadlines are critical for serious adverse effects and hence timely reporting the same is crucial. The solution applies AI/ML and cognitive solutions to automate data ingestion and extraction from structured (web and mobile platforms) and unstructured sources, perform auto-triaging, acceptance and data book-in, reporting priority assessment, quality review, data validation, follow-up process (with automated letter generation, reminders and auto-ingestion), duplicate search, dictionary coding and workflow automation. COVID-19 data processing: COVID-19 epidemic created a need for this type of software product. In a scenario where entire world’s population has to be vaccinated, the clinical test data and importantly Pharmacovigilance data volume shall be huge. Gathering this data efficiently, processing, analyzing and submitting this data in an expedited manner is the need of hour. Our solution will the pharmaceutical manufacturers in early detection of adverse drug reactions, evaluate drug’s efficacy as well as feedbacks and hence bring out better vaccines and drugs for mankind.
