Product 1: Bioelectric Signal-Generated Music DeviceDescription: Our first product is an innovative device that measures bioelectric signals from plants and translates them into therapeutic music. Using two electrodes, the device captures bioelectric signals, processes them in real-time, and generates harmonious music. We have developed Android and iOS apps for Bluetooth connectivity, enabling users to select music styles and play music through their mobile devices. Additionally, computer software has been created to display bioelectric signals as sinusoidal waveforms, store data, and offer advanced analysis tools for research purposes. The device aims to enhance human well-being during activities such as sleeping, studying, yoga, and meditation. Controlled experiments will measure physiological and psychological parameters, comparing results with control groups to determine significant impacts on human well-being. This interdisciplinary project bridges biological and biomedical sciences, contributing to bioelectromagnetic, music therapy, and holistic health.Product 2: Kombucha Bacterial Cellulosic Biofilm Description: Our second product is a Kombucha bacterial cellulosic biofilm with high tensile strength and physicochemical properties nearly identical to poly-lactic acid (PLA), making it a suitable alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics. The bioprocess technology involves fermenting sugared tea using waste leaves from the tea processing industry and pre-fermented Kombucha with symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) as inoculum. Over a period of 10-14 days, the activity of acetic acid bacteria forms a cellulosic biofilm on the surface. These cellulosic sheets are further processed with plasticizers to create high tensile strength sheets or trash bags with desirable physicochemical properties. The cellulosic biopolymer can also be blended and molded into various consumable products using extrusion and 3D printing. Additionally, the fermented broth can be marketed as a probiotic beverage rich in antioxidants, improving metabolism and providing health benefits. Our techno-economic feasibility assessment shows that the process is financially viable, using cheaper resources often considered waste by-products, thus ensuring an appreciable payback time and internal rate of returns. This eco-friendly and biodegradable product addresses micro-plastic pollution and mitigates issues related to the segregation of plastics from biodegradable waste in municipal facilities.
