K-Means Technologies Private Limited is a software startup company incorporated in the year 2023 under the Companies Act, 2013, currently headquartered in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Tezpur University. It strives to innovate IT solutions related to the real-world problems aligned with the attainment of SDGs. It focuses on the use of current disruptive technologies such as AI, blockchain, and IoT on its way to the development of solutions. It has generated 2 employments and 1 project intern so far. K-Means is working on three projects based on real-world problems funded by reputed funding agencies such as IBITF and STPI and is incubated under Tezpur University, Assam, and STPI. The first project, which is soon to roll out by the end of year 2025, is a digital cold storage solution for perishable food items of rural street vendors of Assam. The solution will help these vendors visiting the city in search of earning a livelihood to book cold storages online with their smartphones or offline to store their unsold food items and track their inventory with real-time updates. The solution aims to improve the livelihood income of these vendors by reducing the logistic hardships or losses by caching in and out their unsold items on their next visit to the city, thereby also reducing food wastage in the process. The second project is on the development of an advanced driver analytics platform that monitors the driving behaviour of the drivers to curb reckless and dangerous driving and enhance road safety. The driving behaviours of the drivers will be profiled to generate a driving score that can be used to incentivize them in terms of vehicle insurance premium reduction as per the PAY-HOW-YOU-DRIVE model. The third project is on the development of a Smart DustBin system using IoT and ML to monitor the irresponsible trash disposal and waste levels of the dustbins and alert the authority for timely collection and disposal of the waste.
