In their own words
We are working with farmers in Western Rajasthan to grow the "Yellow Fig"a variety of fig which is most nutritious and delicious varieties of fig in the world.We started growing the tissue cultured saplings of yellow figs in farms in various districts of Western Rajasthan with fingers crossed as it was being planted for the first time in 2018.It was quite new for us as well as farmers.Finally the hard work of our team and farmers paid off and the yield was very good.It can withstand the extreme weather of Thar desert.It has helped the farmers to increase their income .The irrigation is done with the help of drip irrigation to make judicial use of water.The farming is based on "jeevaamrit" an ancient formulation which is comprised of gaumutra,soil under ficus tree,waste decomposer bacteria, jaggery and besan.The jeevamrit is regularly given to plants in drip irrigation by venturi.We use bio fertilizers such as PROM and bio potash.We also use products of IFFCO such as Liquid cosortia,Sagarika,KMB,PSB and ZSB.We add trichoderma,beauveria bassiana , pseudomonas and paecilomycis in cow and goat dung and apply the same in plants to increase the soil fertility.Thus we ensure that the yield is chemical and pesticide free.We have also made various products such as fig jam,fig chutney,fig paste in various flavours , fig extract powder,dry fig for adding the value to the fig.These products have very good demand in the market due to the nutrition value of fig.In future the fig crop will definitely bring prosperity to the region.
