Introducing Koyo Studios, an artisanal tableware brand from Mumbai, India. Launched in 2021, just after the pandemic, the sole aim of Koyo Studios is to bridge the gap between aspirational and accessible tableware availability in India. After hosting a number of dinner parties at home in the pandemic, we came to a realisation that every home needs beautiful but affordable tableware that doesn’t break the bank yet offers a sophisticated dining experience at one’s home. With design and marketing background in tow, we set off with connecting with Indian artisans who are involved in creating handcrafted tableware such as cutlery, serve ware, ceramics, table linen for generations but due to the influx of low quality Chinese goods imports, their livelihood was getting marginalised. We were determined to increase their livelihood by employing the karigars to make unique and designer tableware pieces that lead the narrative with design and quality. We design and create all products in house and every product is a testament to our commitment to introduce sophisticated but hand-crafted products at the right price. All our products tell a story, for example: our first collection was inspired by Uzbeki Ikkat fabric with their unique patterns and vibrant colours. From dinnerware such as plates, katoris, serving bowls, rice plates and soup bowls to cutlery such as stainless steel and brass spoons, forks, knives, soup spoons, tea spoons, serving spoons, etc. we offer everything that a dining table needs, including trays, decorative bowls, coasters, napkin rings, candles, etc. With all this and more, our aim of imbuing emotion with every design and accessibility of elegant tableware to each passionate individual remains in the forefront.
