Problem: Existing wave-energy systems are costly, complex, and ineffective in low-to-medium wave heights found in India. Many coastal and island areas depend on diesel power. Solution / Innovation: We have developed a new mechanical wave-energy conversion mechanism inspired by Salter’s Duck but redesigned with a unique motion-conversion principle not used in current systems. It converts vertical wave motion into rotational energy to run an alternator safely above water. The design works in low wave heights and can be deployed near offshore or in deep sea, increasing usability. Uniqueness: New mechanical conversion method (professional patent filing in progress). Efficient in small waves (0.5–1.5 m). Electrical parts stay out of water → high reliability & low maintenance. Suitable for near-offshore and deep-sea conditions. Simple, modular, and lower cost than existing devices. Stage: We are ready for professional patent filing. Design is ready for lab testing, and a 5 kW prototype is planned. With funding, we have a design for a 100 kW trial device for real-sea deployment. Market Potential: Ports, islands, offshore units, deep-sea platforms, coastal villages, desalination plants. Impact: Reduces diesel dependence, cuts emissions, and supports scalable clean coastal and offshore energy.
