Powdered Spices Industry in India has existed for more than a century and has grown to INR 60,000 crores today. However, all players, both organized and disorganized, produce only recipe-based mixes. Infact all the companies produce the same set of mixes but with slightly varying compositions. Most mix recipes include components like Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Rice flour, Gram Flour etc. along with spices claiming to replicate traditional food flavors. On the other hand, if one were to reflect back a dozen decades, our great grandparents seldom went to hospitals or physicians except for broken bones. The kitchens had Pestles, Mortars, Various types of Grinding stones and Grinding Wheels, Hand Roller mills, Millstones, Stampers, Pounders and a variety of stone and wooden tools. These were used to freshly prepare delicate complex mixes of seasonings and flavorings that were used in food preparation. The kitchen was an Apothecary! In these kitchens spices were never pounded or ground along with rice flour or gram flour or any flour! Dry spice powders were always separately prepared and preserved – including blends like Pepper Cumin powder. When ground with Onion or Ginger or Garlic they were used immediately and never stored. While on the one hand, we have today migrated to various brands of premix dry powders containing an agglomeration of dehydrated components along with dry spice powders that were never a traditional practice and even labelled them traditional recipes, on the other hand the general populace suffers from Lost Life Years (LLY) and Disability Allowed Life Years (DALY) due to escalated and widespread suffrage from diabetes, cardiac ailments, cancers, asthma, neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s, stress, respiratory difficulties, cholesterol, digestion issues and susceptibility to microbial infections to name a few. Pharmaceutical science and medical technology have advanced, and all these ailments have cures and treatments. However in India a large majority of the populace cannot afford such therapies, cures and healthcare expenditure. In some cases access is not proximate too. Lifespice India Pvt limited is planning a two-dimensional solution to the above problem. As a direct remedy we shall be producing a set of spice mixtures that can be used directly while cooking (much like a garam masala) or even as a dressing. These mixes shall be produced from professionally researched science backed proprietary formulations of dry spice powders. Regular use of these mixes shall address and improve specific health vectors of the consumer – for egs. a mix for cardiac health, a mix for combating / preventing cancer, a mix for improving Glucose management, etc. In effect at no significant extra cost if the common man uses this mix in his food as a seasoning his whole family shall have preventive health care. The mixes are also gastronomically configured to have exotic and enticing flavors. Lifespice shall also be producing a set of pioneer culinary dry spice mixes, unadulterated with onions, garlic, ginger, flours, and the likes. These shall be usable over long shelf lives for preparing dishes, traditional recipes, with exotic flavors that are healthy at the same time. The idea is a one mix approach. The home maker cooks fresh onions, ginger, garlic, tomatoes etc. and adds Lifespice dry spice mix with salt to cook dishes that augment health and have rich flavor – not just pungent spice.
