Lightening Lives is a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) company with a goal to brighten the life of an individual in need. It is committed to addressing both rare and commonly occurring diseases with a significant genetic burden. Its core mission is to develop rapid, robust, and affordable diagnostic assays for commonly occurring rare genetic disorders, with a focus on hemoglobinopathies and musculopathies, among others. One of Lightening Lives' flagship achievements, in association with other institutes, is the development and validation of a direct dried blood PCR-based molecular test for a commonly prevalent disease, Sickle Cell Anemia. The test has been adopted as the ONLY screening-cum-confirmation test in the National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission, a landmark initiative launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Building on this success, Lightening Lives is actively developing similar diagnostic protocols for other genetic disorders, with an emphasis on predictive medicine and precision healthcare. To advance these objectives, the company is collaborating with Non-governmental organizations, Patient advocacy groups, National Health Mission units of various states and participates in the screening programmes at the ground level. Through these partnerships, Lightning Lives is facilitating the setup of genetic testing laboratories, prenatal diagnostic services, and genetic counseling facilities across the country. Moreover, the company brings extensive expertise in high-throughput OMICS technologies, both in data generation and analysis for logical conclusions. This enables translation of complex biological data into actionable insights for early diagnosis, risk assessment, targeted treatment, and disease management of major non-communicable disorders like diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, etc.—essential for a comprehensive precision medicine framework.
