Two social enterprises, MotherQuilts (www.motherquilts.com) and Ghongadi.com (www.ghongadi.com). Both the enterprises manufacturing and gifting traditional handmade quilts and woolen blankets to different countries around the world while functioning from the state of Maharashtra. We at MotherQuilts had a vision of spreading smiles on thousands of women who practice and uphold the traditional art of hand quilting in rural Maharashtra. MotherQuilts, a social initiative was started in Pune, Maharashtra, India in order to create sustainable economic opportunities for groups of women that aim at conserving their valuable inheritance. We provide training for quilt stitching and machine stitching to talented and motivated woman groups based in certain small villages across Maharashtra. Our aim is to create a platform for these artisans to exhibit their art and provide employment opportunities for them. We are associated with many artisans working and we have trained about 1700+ women in quilts stitching. We work towards reaching more artisans and working with them. MotherQuilts has successfully helped these women artisans in rural India to expand the culture and has established itself as one of the prime companies for handmade quilts in Maharashtra.
