Mycolabs is a sustainability-focused biotechnology startup harnessing the power of mycelium—the root-like structure of fungi—to develop next-generation biomaterials. As the parent company of mico, our flagship brand, we are committed to replacing environmentally harmful materials like animal leather and synthetic plastics with biodegradable, cruelty-free, and plastic-free alternatives. At Mycolabs, we address two major environmental challenges—stubble burning and toxic leather production—by upcycling agricultural waste into a nutrient-rich substrate to grow mycelium. Using our in-house developed cultivation chambers and modular biofabrication systems, we produce materials that are not only sustainable but also scalable and customizable for industries such as fashion, automotive, and home décor. Our solution is rooted in circular economy principles, offering a low-carbon, decentralized production model that benefits both the environment and rural farming communities. Through mico, we have launched our first line of mycelium leather products, setting a new benchmark in sustainable material innovation.
