In recent years, the government has encouraged the production of renewable ethanol from a variety of feedstock. By the upcoming years, the government hopes to have a mandate for ethanol blends in gasoline of at least 20 per cent. Many favourable policies and incentives have been put in place to help with this endeavour. As a result of a policy shift, the government now permits the production of ethanol directly from FCI grain.
