This project is an initiative taken up by Nimmin Private Limited to manufacture Value Extracted and Value Added products to fulfil the basic needs of living beings. The project intend to create a self-sustainable business model using “Waste” as its primary “Raw Material” for extracting “Value” and further adding that value to make products which are “Basic Needs”, “Healthier”, “Safer”, “Smarter”, “Desirable” and most of all “ Highly Sustainable” for Mankind and Nature as well. To achieve our objectives we have taken Banana Plant as the “Waste” and our Primary “Raw Material”. The reason for choosing Kalpavriksh (Banana Plant) is because they are, bulky and create high volume of unused biomass, full of vital components for life, easily available, cost nothing (apart from expenditure incurred in clearing them out of field) and gets replenished each year. Globally, India has been on top in producing banana and more than hundred different varieties of Banana plant can be found across the nation. This is undoubtedly very proud facts to know but there is a problem. Banana plant is a perennial crop, means it bears fruit only once in its life time which is between 10-12 months on an average. Once the fruit is harvested the plant become useless and needs to be chopped down to grow the next crop and this creates the problem. From every hectare of banana cultivation it is estimated that 60-80 MT of biomass gets produced. With that calculation India cultivates more than 8.6 Lakhs Hectare, which in turn leaves more than 60 Million MT of biomass of no or partial use as cattle feed and others. Most of the farmers after chopping down the plant either leave them in the field or dump them outside of the field but somewhere for self-decomposition. Some farmers are also being seen burning the plant after harvest. Based on Various on-going and past researches of national and international esteemed institutions, we at Nimman intend to use that biomass and convert them or incorporate them into products which are needed as basic needs of all living beings i.e. “Roti” (Food), Kapada (Cloth) & Makaan (Shelter). The proposed plan is unique not only in terms of “Input” but “Output” too as mentioned below: Input Output Outcome Beneficiaries Biomass Waste Healthier Air Infinite Sustainability Nature & Its Ecosystem Low to No Natural resource Healthier Land Low to No Chemicals Healthier Water Apart from being financially feasible, the proposed business model will also be able to improve the overall economic conditions of the banana growing farmers by providing them with additional Income and to the society and the nation in long run. We are looking the business profits as merely an outcome to continue the operations and for growth, Our vision is to make it as a “Movement” to Change the “Nature” of the mankind towards “Nature” and vice versa. Taking the current status of the “Sustainability”, it is imperative for all of us to inculcate practices of not just saving the environment but also to add value to that directly or indirectly, at least for our basic needs. Hence we are requesting the Government of India to provide us the required assistance and support as we are assuming them to be the biggest customer of all the products manufactured and processed under this project.
