Every time we went job hunting, Employers asked for a portfolio. Honestly, we were surprised! Because we have been brought up with the idea of building resumes! We assumed workplaces still considered CV as the most important document to gauge candidates’ skills during recruitment. However, a little research on our part completely changed our outlook towards the job search process. It wasn’t the RESUME but the PORTFOLIO that employers or HR Managers were after! However, we weren’t alone in our ignorance! According to Forbes, 56% of hiring managers prefer looking at a candidate’s personal website rather than a resume! And yet, only 7% of job seekers worldwide invest in building a personal website! The numbers did impress but couldn’t shock us as we had already observed this growing trend of recruiters asking candidates for portfolios as proof of their accomplishments. Now, we tried conversing with the general population, between the age group of 22 and 40 years, to understand their thoughts on having a portfolio in place of a resume. While the majority agreed on portfolio supremacy, few believed that those who work in creative spheres such as writing, painting, designing, etc., have more use of portfolios. We considered it carefully! Here’s what we concluded! A Portfolio is basically the story you tell about your work to differentiate yourself from others. It’s the ultimate platform where you can exhibit your passion, projects, and skills, together, in one place. It highlights your USP, giving your employers or clients a glimpse of your potential. Above all, it speaks volumes about a person's work ethic. This all made us believe that irrespective of whether your work requires tons or a pinch of creativity, a professionally built portfolio can make your profile stand out in the crowd! It’s then we decided to embark on our journey of developing a user-friendly, highly interactive, and feature-rich platform that would help people from every niche to easily create a professional & impactful portfolio for themselves. It can be used by software developers, designers, coders, content writers, diploma holders, graduates, postgraduates, teachers, and any other business professional.
