The one of its kind in Bengal, Organic Orchards was founded in 2016 to promote a sustainable lifestyle by creating a unique range of personal care products whereby the ingredients harnessed the goodness of 100% natural forest products available locally. The promoters envisioned contributing to protecting the South Asian rain forests and threatened wildlife by researching to create a personal product care range strictly avoiding the use of Palm oil in the name of Urvija. A Sanskrit word that means "Born out of the earth," is a natural lifestyle brand focusing on offering natural products by taking the help of environmentally sustainable means. The Brand is 26 SKUs currently sold on D2C e-commerce platforms, including its website, www.myurvija.com. Palm cultivation is creating major deforestation havoc and leaving many wildlife species on the verge of extinction. Our ingredients are therefore exclusively procured from locally grown non-timber forest products, e.g., Kusum, Sal, Mahua, and Karanj seeds –and oil distilled from these seeds. By carefully selecting ingredients from natural sources, we ensure that our customers are not exposed to the harmful effects of chemical preservatives, pesticides, and sulfates. Our commercial ventures in Urvija reach out to humanitarian goals. One of our essential endeavors is underprivileged women's economic and social empowerment. We hope that the training that we provide the economically weaker sections in the process of employment will bring them longer-term benefits, even in their journey beyond Urvija. By working closely with local farmers and essential oil distillers, we also seek to contribute to the local economy and strive to create an alternative livelihood. The operations of Organic Orchards Private Limited (Urvija ) are based in Arambagh Town , district Hooghly with an impressive manufacturing unit certified by the Ministry of Ayush, Govt Of India. In addition, the Brand has 4 international certifications including being certified as the ONLY company in India to have No Palm Oil cosmetic products. The promoters come with rich corporate and administrative experience to take the organization to the next level. The organization is led from the front by Sreela Pillai Roy, an Ex Banker with more than 15 years of rich corporate experience, and Dr. Jayasree Sarkar , an eminent Biochemist with several academic and corporate accolades on her resume.
