Project Report Param Jal – Clean Drinking Water through Water ATMs 0. Introduction Dhanbad, one of India’s key coal mining hubs, is plagued by severe water scarcity and contamination, largely caused by unchecked mining operations. Over-extraction, surface water diversion, acid mine drainage, and pollution have significantly deteriorated the quality and availability of drinking water. The Param Jal initiative by M/s Param Innovations Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with ACIC (IIT ISM) Foundation, aims to address this crisis by leveraging untapped pit water resources and converting them into clean, affordable RO drinking water through a decentralized water ATM model. 1. Detailed Description of the Proposed Facility Facility Name: Param Jal – Centralized RO Production Unit Location: Dhanbad, Jharkhand Scope: • Set up an RO purification plant with a daily production capacity of 100,000 liters using pit water extracted from defunct mining areas. • Integrate solar-powered systems for sustainability and cost-efficiency. • Distribute purified water to a network of 100 coin/UPI-based Water ATMs. Core Infrastructure Includes: • RO purification unit with multi-stage filtration • Pre-treatment modules for pit water • Storage tanks and pumping systems • Solar power system (for backup and sustainability) • Vehicle and logistics system for water transportation • Centralized monitoring unit with telemetry for quality and distribution 2.
