Trunk It is a first of its kind online music streaming service, exclusively for ‘Indie Music’. Indie is short for ‘Independent Music’, basically, that from artists not signed by labels. These artists supply a vast range of ‘alternative' music across Rock, Pop, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Electronic & Hip-Hop. This is a kind of an ‘underground music’ scene which is eager to break out into the ‘big scene’. It is the rite of passage for every artist/ band up there enjoying the fandom from the crowd. ‘Nucleya’, the popular electronic artist, a must-play for almost every DJ across the country, almost the world, is a classic example. Many make it, but many more do not. However, that is not for the lack of talent. The state of the industry today, as may be the case with several other industries is that for every one talented artist that makes through, probably at least another 100 talented ones do not. This talent can however still shine, in a relatively smaller segment of the overall listener base, a niche. These artists do in fact have a very loyal following and the fast growing gig culture in India bears testament to the fact. Madboy Mink, Dhruv Vishwanath, The Bodhisattva Trio, Barefaced Liar, Dual Disco, The Demonic Resurrection, are not mainstream artists playing at almost every other club but examples of talented Independent artists popular across the alternative music Industry. We sign up these artists, after a basic quality filter, we stream their music to our listeners via our web site, android, and iOS apps. Over the last 6 months of launching, we have built a database of close to 300 artists from across India with a song library of close to 2,000 (and growing rapidly) and now see a steady, dedicated, listener base of about a 100 unique listeners in a week.
