The Prathna Initiative is a non-governmental organization established by a collective of dedicated social development professionals and students from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). The name 'Prathna' is rooted in Sanskrit, symbolizing a "call to action," embodying the aspiration of " We strive to create a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive." Guided by the motto "Empowering Lives, Transforming Futures," the Prathna Initiative embarks on projects across various domains, aiming for comprehensive progress towards a world where empowerment is ubiquitous, catalyzing positive transformation, and nurturing a society founded on principles of equality, dignity, and opportunity for all individuals. At its core, the organization is committed to uplifting the socio-economic status of rural Indian communities through initiatives focused on women's empowerment, entrepreneurship, livelihood generation, skill development, institutional building, and grassroots capacity enhancement. They strive to embody the change they aspire to see in society. Throughout its operational years, Prathna has crystallized its vision, identified key domains, and emerged as a respected and recognizable NGO.
