India has about 42 million brick & mortar stores which contribute 92% of the total retail trade. Out of these shops, less than 1% are able to reach an online buyer as it requires retailers to invest significantly in maintaining an online inventory model in real time. This is the “digital divide” in retail sector. Using PriceMap, any retailer, with no online presence at all, can reach out to an online buyer by just using a smartphone. We achieve this by reversing the flow of online transaction. Instead of stores telling shoppers what they have (the usual model of uploading inventory and aggregating a catalogue), a PriceMap buyer sends a query to stores in his nearby markets telling them what they want to buy by searching online and sharing page link. Stores get the query in their app and revert back in real time with availability and best price. For a consumer, PriceMap works like Google of brick & mortar retail and helps them find shops in nearby markets having the product he wants and the one offering best price. It solves the biggest challenge faced by physical retail today, i.e. product and price discovery by online buyer. For a brick & mortar store, it enables them to reach out to an online buyer & sell in real time without digitising store inventory. A PriceMap Seller takes less than 5 minutes to start selling online. We are live in NCR with ~500 stores and in 7 product categories.
