Renovo Fuels is on a mission to transform India’s crop burning crisis into a scalable clean energy opportunity. Every year, over 100 million tonnes of surplus crop residue—especially paddy straw—is burnt across Indian farmlands, choking the air and harming public health. At the same time, India burns more than 1 billion tonnes of coal and forest wood—often unsustainably—to power its industries and homes. We believe there’s a better way. If processed correctly, agricultural residues can replace a significant share of our fossil fuel use—reducing pollution, generating rural employment, and enhancing energy security. However, India’s biofuel sector is still young and fragmented. Fuel quality is inconsistent, supply chains are unreliable, and residues like paddy straw contain high levels of potassium, sodium, and chlorine that cause boiler slagging, corrosion, and shutdowns—limiting their industrial adoption. We are part of the Renewable Energy sector, specifically focused on bioenergy from agricultural residues. Our work contributes to: • CleanTech: Reducing dependence on fossil fuels by replacing coal with processed biomass fuels. • AgriTech: Solving the crop burning crisis by converting surplus farm residue into economic value. • Sustainable Manufacturing: Supplying industry-ready clean fuel for boilers and thermal energy applications. Our approach aligns with national priorities in air pollution reduction, rural job creation, circular economy, and energy transition.
