Reparo Energy Pvt Ltd - Empowering Rural India through Solar Energy1. Ideation:The journey of Reparo Energy Pvt Ltd began with a vision to bring renewable energy solutions to underserved and remote areas of the country. The founders identified the potential of solar energy in transforming the lives of people living in off-grid villages. The core idea was to not just install solar plants but to empower the local community by providing them with skills and job opportunities in solar plant operations and maintenance.2. Validation:To validate their idea, Reparo Energy initiated a pilot project in a poor village in Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar. They trained the local youth in the operations and maintenance of solar plants. The success of this project, where they efficiently managed 36 rooftop solar plants, provided the validation needed for their approach. It demonstrated that not only could solar energy be harnessed effectively in such areas, but also that training and involving the local community brought about significant benefits.3. Early Traction:Buoyed by the success of the pilot project, Reparo Energy decided to scale up their operations. They received work orders in Chennai and five other states, which further solidified their early traction. As they operated under their existing company, Reparo Private Limited, the potential for national-scale expansion became evident. Early traction also caught the attention of major players like Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), who outsourced maintenance and operations of a 1 MW plant in Port Blair to Reparo Energy.4. Scaling:To facilitate rapid scaling and focus specifically on their solar energy endeavors, Reparo Energy Pvt Ltd was incorporated as a new company. They got empanelled in JKEDA and secured an order for a 20MW rooftop solar scheme in Jammu & Kashmir. With each successful project, their confidence in scaling up grew. The founders identified more remote areas across India with untapped solar potential, aiming to bring a minimum of 2 MW of solar energy by the year-end.
