"Flex hoardings banners are causing visual environmental and health pollution" Flex hoardings/banners made up of poly-vinyl chloride (PVC) which is called as 'poison plastic' is polluting our health, environment and is defacing the looks of the cities. This is today's grave need that is to be addressed by the developing countries. Flex hoardings/banners are also not bio-degradable, they cannot be recycled when burnt it emits toxic fumes that have serious effects on health it can cause cancer and infertility. Burning of flex material leads to harmful pollutants like sulphates and nitrates. According to rough estimates the number of licensed hoardings in India is over 5,00,000 and the total count of licensed hoardings is going to increase 4 times in near future as new express highways, metro stations and bridges are under construction. On the other hand the count of illegal hoardings is beyond imagination. Outdoor Advertising industry revenues in 2018 have been around Rs 3,972 crores and projected to cross ?4,300 crores in 2019 and form 5.5% of total advertising spends in India. Current estimates project the industry to cross ?4,700 crores by 2020.
