- Indian Railways is extremely congested. Over 20M people travel by railways daily in India - As a result an estimated 1 of 2 users who books a ticket on IRCTC ends up with a WL (waitlisted) or RAC ticket. This is an unacceptable problem in our country where the population is increasingly becoming aspirational - We have built financial technology products to solve the problem of congestion on the demand side. WL (waitlisted ) or RAC passengers come to our website to purchase a "travel guarantee" at any point before the date of journey. With this product passenger is ensured confirm travel. If the train ticket is confirmed, passenger continues on the train journey. However if train ticket remains WL or RAC, we provide the user a flight ticket at the approx. cost of his Tatkal ticket price within the next 24hr. - On the supply side, we are in the process of partnering with airlines to consume cheap inventory which they otherwise cannot sell easily in the open market. Today airlines have ~50,000 seats that go empty everyday in India domestically (as per DGCA) - Founding team consist from IIM, ISB and IIT.
