In their own words
S.E.W (Smart Educational Workshop) is a tech educational startup trying to bring a social impact in society. We are providing technical workshops on the topics of aerodynamics, robotics, astrophysics, biology, arts, mathematics and spoken English to the students of orphanages, childcare institutions and schools in Odisha. The sole purpose of the workshops is to increase the thirst of the children to know more new things and explore them. At the end of our session, a career planning class is conducted so that each and every student will get their field of interest, create a dream and take the first step towards their dream journey. We found that the interest of children towards education is very strong but it gradually vanishes in slums and orphanages due to lack of such facilities. To prepare a student for the rigorous of a job, practical education at the school level is important, but Indian education system lacks in kindling the curiosity, desire to learn and in identifying the real capacity of the students, but this problem reflects in the future when they have to do higher studies and get confused what to do next in their careers. S.E.W exactly figures out this problem by providing workshops and finally, the carrier planning class help them to give an aim for their future and to take the first step for their dream. This workshop is not just a workshop, rather it is an ignition of interest towards a particular field or multiple which helps in the persistence of interest towards education. In this last summer, we had conducted 8 free workshop sessions in 8 different childcare institutions and orphanages in 2 districts of Odisha i.e. in Cuttack and Khorda. We covered a total of 168 students from classes 6th to 10th. In fact, it's 168 dreams for us because we just merely give 168 aims to 168 students to excel in their interested fields. The previous workshops cover the topic of aerodynamics, robotics, biology, arts, astrophysics, and spoken English. The career planning class taken in the end has definitely ignited the mind of the students to choose their dream career, especially it has been worthwhile for the 10th students. The 2nd session of S.E.W is currently in progress and in this session, we have conducted one workshop at Sri Sathya Sai Kiddies Adobe School in a new district, Sambalpur covering 65 students.
