Santipur Handloom product is world famous and it has glorious legacy. Weaving is an activity that was supposed to have been initiated in the beginning of the 15th century and the handloom saree was encouraged a lot during the rule of the Nadia King Rudra Roy in the last half of the 17th century. It got even more patronage in the Mughal rule and handloom sarees used to be exported to countries of the Far East since then.Today Power loom has grown in Santipur dustrically, still we emotionally and by our heart we still encourage the Handloom sector and try to develop handloom products with lots of difficulties. At present 22 small entrepreneurs with support of the Ministry of Textile (Govt. of India) we came together and formed a producer company named Santipur Handloom Innovation Producer Company Ltd.(SHIPCO). We have taken oath to bring back the glorious day of Handloom, and also we will try to bring back those who left the handloom sector due to low wages but these Artisan were really assets for the Handloom sector. This is our movement for our weavers of the Handloom sector.Now a days our handloom sector in Santipur is unorganised and due to lack of guidance of quality and due to lack of management we can not reach quality product and we can not present our product world wide and we are losing our pride and business. In effect of that we are losing skill Artisans of Handloom sector. The main reason behind this Santipur Handloom sector is not organised. We are planning to make Santipur Handloom sector in organised way to deliver best quality product to customer.
