Dr Rahul Mishra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rungta College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai, India, with over 18 years of teaching, research, and academic administration experience. He currently also serves as Deputy Dean (Incubation) at the Rungta College Technological Business Incubator (RUBI), contributing actively to innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry–academia collaboration.He earned his PhD in Fluid Mechanics (Hydrodynamics and Erosion Studies for Flow of Particulate Slurries) from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur. He completed his MTech in Steel Technology through a joint programme of Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL) and Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, which provided extensive hands-on exposure to blast furnace operations, steel melting shops, continuous casting, rolling mills, and quality control laboratories. His postgraduate research focused on slab defects in micro-alloyed steels, supported by prolonged industrial training at Bhilai Steel Plant.Dr Mishra’s research interests lie at the intersection of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphase and slurry flow, erosion and wear in pipelines, hydrodynamics, material science and metallurgy, steelmaking processes, and energy-efficient mechanical systems. In recent years, his work has expanded towards Industry 4.0, AI-assisted manufacturing, green energy technologies, and sustainable engineering solutions.He has published extensively in SCI and Scopus-indexed journals, with research contributions covering slurry hydrodynamics, erosion prediction, pneumatic conveying, thermal systems, and numerical simulation. He has also presented numerous papers at national and international conferences, including ASME and other reputed global forums. His scholarly output includes multiple books and book chapters published by international publishers, as well as several granted and published patents in India and the UK, reflecting strong translational and applied research outcomes.Dr Mishra has received several academic and research excellence awards, including international recognition for innovative research contributions. He is also a recipient of competitive research grants and has coordinated AICTE- and TEQIP-sponsored projects and faculty development programmes. A committed educator, he has taught a wide range of core mechanical engineering subjects and actively contributes to curriculum development, accreditation processes, and outcome-based education.Beyond research and teaching, Dr Mishra is deeply engaged in capacity building, innovation ecosystems, and student mentoring, with a strong belief in socially relevant engineering and inclusive technological development. He is an active reviewer, conference organiser, and academic leader, dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary research and nurturing future engineers and researchers.
