Our innovative approach harnesses the potential of Hydrothermal Liquefaction (HTL) technology to address two of the most persistent waste challenges of our time—domestic vegetable waste and single-use plastic waste. Instead of treating these waste streams separately, our process integrates them into a co-processing system capable of efficiently handling mixed wet waste. Through HTL, these materials undergo thermochemical conversion under moderate temperature and high-pressure conditions in the presence of water, enabling the transformation of complex organic and polymer-based compounds into high-value resources. The result of this integrated treatment is a diversified portfolio of outputs, including bio-oil, biochar, syngas, and platform chemicals. Bio-oil serves as a renewable energy source with the potential to replace fossil fuels in power generation, industrial heating, and transportation applications. Biochar, with its high carbon content, acts as a soil enhancer, improves agricultural productivity, and contributes to long-term carbon sequestration. Syngas, a mixture of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and other gases, can be further refined into clean fuels or used directly for energy generation. Additionally, platform chemicals derived from the process can serve as raw materials for manufacturing a variety of industrial and consumer products, promoting the development of green chemical industries. By combining organic waste and plastic waste in one processing cycle, this approach maximizes resource recovery, improves process efficiency, and eliminates the need for extensive waste segregation. The synergy between the high energy density of plastics and the moisture content of vegetable waste creates an optimal feedstock balance for HTL, reducing the need for external energy inputs and increasing overall yield.
