India is increasing its reliance on imported SiO₂ and Si due to the high energy and cost of production. Si manufacturing is confined to a few nations, like China and Russia, who monopolize the market. India relies on imports for SiO₂ and Si manufacturing, which involves massive mining and significant energy use. Therefore, developing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly system for producing SiO₂ and Si is crucial. Our startup works on its research. This research aims to create SiO₂and Si from agricultural waste, namely rice husk and sugarcane bagasse, using an eco-friendly biological process. Agro waste is a significant source of silica dioxide (80% w/w SiO₂ and 67% sugarcane bagasse). Fermentation of organic acid-producing microorganisms under controlled growth conditions shows promising results for extracting SiO₂ and Si from agricultural waste. Mechanistic and microbiological research on SiO₂ and Si extraction from rice straw have yet to be explored. Microbial technology has the ability to Biotransform agricultural waste into SiO2 and Si by its metal chelating abilities. making it a promising area of study. This innovative approach for producing SiO₂ and Si will reduce energy use and be more environmentally friendly.
