Odisha is producing more than 1500 tourism professionals per year from different institutes. The curriculum of most of the institutes is either obsolete or lacks practical viability. So most of these professionals (about 80%) either change their track or struggle hard to get a fairly good job in the travel and tourism industry. IATA Training is the global leader in producing Travel and Tourism professionals and has the most updated curriculum with the maximum practicality. Unfortunately, almost all the IATA Authorised Training Centres (ATC) do not give practical training through the PRODUCTION PLATFORM of different Global Distribution Systems ( GDS), Computerised Reservation Systems (CRS), Travel Accounting Systems, Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP), Travel Information Manual (TIM) for visa and health regulations of different countries, etc. So the purpose of the IATA curriculum is not served. One can verify the fact by contacting the different existing ATCs in India. Sitakanta Acharya, the MD of TicketsNTrips Travel Private Limited, has been a top performer in various IATA courses and has got 20 plus years of Operational experience at the top level of several leading Companies of the Travel and Tourism industry. He could realize the lack of much-needed skills in the newly produced travel and tourism professionals coming from the different parts of India. So he planned to open an IATA Training Centre, where he can produce the truly skilled workforce for the Travel and Tourism Industry for his country. Due to the lower cost of operation and a larger number of Travel and Tourism aspirants, he has chosen Bhubaneswar to start with and is hopeful to expand to various parts of the country in the nearest future. The lack of awareness for IATA training and the existing stereotype of lower success rate in IATA exams has been creating huge trouble to penetrate into the market in this region. Though TicketsNTrips is trying to complement all the regional and national level Travel training institutes, apart from IITTM, rest all feel us like a competitor at this moment. That’s a huge concern for our survival with a low investment.
