Tokar Sustainable designs as a brand, constantly experiments in creating culture for consumption of sustainable lifestyle products at scale. Our mission is to develop designs and technology innovations of bamboo and bead-based products for affordable, sustainable lifestyle. As a brand we catalyze an alternative and sustainable model of the market without exploitation and monopoly appropriation. Tokar strives to add sustainability in making of the product and deliver sustainably designed products to the end users. The Team emphasize on design innovation and material experimentation where collectively we could push the boundaries of the Craftsperson, Designer working with sustainable material. The aim is to reinterpret how people perceive the material in their daily routine of life. One of the most important focus is to sustain the livelihood of Bamboo craft person and provide a healthy and self-reliant living. This would also encourage a large number of people to continue working with their craft skills and would reduce the dependency of migration to metro cities and Sugarcane farming which could be a mean of their exploitation. A part of their design initiative is to create a brand identity for bamboo furniture market specializing in Flat Pack Furniture. Tokar intends to offer sustainably produced bamboo products that can meet the global standards of quality and aesthetics. They want to create an equity based partnership among various stakeholders such as crafts people, local artisans, designers, management and social development professionals, social entrepreneurs and marketing platforms.
