There are lots of problems and issues pertaining to the current manufacturing process of sanitary napkins in India. Ahmedabad based consumer education and research centre tested 19 brands of sanitary napkins available in the market and found that none of them conformed to international hygiene standards. Holes, dirt and even ants were found in the samples that were tested Hygiene in manufacturing is vital for protecting public health and wellbeing, as well as ensuring product quality. Manufacturing hygiene aims to prevent product contamination that may occur through the introduction of unwanted materials, substances or microorganisms into a manufactured product or process. Good hygiene practices reduce the likelihood of the introduction, spread and multiplication of potential pathogens and other spoilage organisms in the manufacturing environment. This protects the health of consumers of the manufactured products, as well as the health of industry workers. Hygiene in manufacturing is vital, since a contaminated production batch has the potential to affect the health of many people. Hygiene is of paramount importance in pharmaceuticals and healthcare sector where products are ingested, applied or have direct contact with the body. Indoor air quality is another very important factor in the manufacturing process of pharma and healthcare products. Indoor air is far more polluted than fresh air and may contain a lot of harmful pathogens like Odors and VOCs from paint, chalk, adhesives as well as microbes, insects and other pests and also emissions from cleaning materials, pesticides and herbicides. We intend to make a machine that is completely free from human touch right from having a cutter mechanism to cut the raw material within the machine to avoid the dust that forms on the edges of raw material sheets to a self-sealing mechanism which will completely seal individual pads. It will also be an enclosed unit which will also have an inbuilt air quality hepa filter unit so as to keep the products from further contamination during the manufacturing process inside in machine. This will ensure an out-and-out hygienic product free from any microbes and pathogens and free of human touch.
